World Program: Spotlight - Latin America
The World Program highlights the cinematic accomplishments of
independent filmmakers from around the world, one country or region at
a time. The 2008 World program will showcase filmmakers from Latin America.
To qualify, films must be produced, directed and filmed within one or more
of the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia,
Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico,
Uruguay or Venezuela.
Global Insight
The Global Insight Program showcases films that broaden awareness on humanitarian
issues and provide filmmakers an opportunity to meet people passionate
about their causes.
To qualify for the Global Insight Program, the subject of your film must
address a current humanitarian issue. Films can be any length and either
documentary or narrative, however they must have been produced after January
1, 2006.
Sports Action
Explore the athlete\'s journey in traditional & non-traditional
sports films that are rich in plot, depth and cinematography. Previous
winners from this competitive program include: MURDERBALL, SOFIA and ROW
HARD: NO EXCUSES.
For consideration within the 2008 Sports Action Program, films may be
either a short or feature as long as it is a sports oriented film. Only
films produced after January 1, 2006 are considered.
Student Voices
Students from around the world as well as major educational institutions
take part in our Student Voices Program. From AFI in California to AFTRS
in Australia, the Jackson Hole Film Festival prides itself in supporting
the filmmakers of tomorrow.
Students of all ages qualify for the Student Voices Program.
In order to be considered for the 2008 Student Voices Program, films must
be produced and directed by students. A letter from the School\'s Registrar
validating enrollment during production at an educational institution is
required. Only films produced after January 1, 2006 are considered.
Features
The Jackson Hole Film Festival showcases the best that the independent
world has to offer. Previous films have included AURORA BOREALIS, BELIEVE
IN ME, BLACK IRISH, EARTHLING, HE WAS A QUIET MAN and STEPHANIE DALEY.
In order to be considered for the 2008 Features Program, films must be
longer than 30 minutes and produced after January 1, 2006.
Documentaries
Our Documentary film competition is one of the favored programs
of our audience. We are proud to showcase this genre of film, which captures
our imagination and makes us think about the world around us.
Past films have included: DARIUS GOES WEST: THE ROLL OF HIS LIFE, GHOSTS
OF CITE\' SOLEIL, Emmy nominated GRIZZLY MAN, THIN, THE WORLD ACCORDING
TO SESAME STREET, and many others.
Films of any length are welcomed in the program and may cover any topic.
Only films produced after January 1, 2006 will be considered.
Shorts
Shorts are a popular and exciting platform that exhibit the emerging
talents of writers, directors and actors as they tell their creative stories
in thirty (30) minutes or less. Each year the Jackson Hole Film Festival
receives a very strong selection of short films and 2008 promises to be
no different.
In order to be considered for the 2008 Shorts Program, films must be thirty
(30) minutes or less and produced after January 1, 2006.
