Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, will open the Global Insight Summit with an address to attendees from the film and television community and the public.

Film and television play a powerful role in shaping world opinion about important issues and institutions. The entertainment industry offers a vehicle to dramatically improve public awareness of critical global issues and to highlight the role of the United Nations in promoting peace and security, ensuring development, and protecting fundamental human rights around the world. As the world's only truly universal instrument, the UN has carried out its work for more than six decades in every corner of the globe.

Ban Ki-moon of the Republic of Korea, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, brings to his post 37 years of service both in government and on the global stage.
